About Apple iPad (9th Gen)
With the redesign of the iPad Mini 6, the iPad 9 is the only version available that still has that traditional iPad look. That means the bezels surrounding the 10.2-inch display are still chunky and there’s a circular Touch ID home button. It feels familiar and stylish in that timeless way some classic cars do. But it is starting to date next to the competition and I would like Apple to finally switch this design over to something a little more modern next time.
At least it feels sturdy and well-built, especially when you consider similarly priced slates can sacrifice the metal and glass build for plastic.
Keeping with the same design does mean some of the benefits of the iPad Mini 6 aren’t here. Lightning, for instance, is still the sole port rather than the far more useful USB-C. TouchID isn’t embedded directly into the lock button and accessory support is limited.
